Light Blue Summer Wedding // Thumper Pond Golf Resort // Megan & Jake

If you haven’t read about how I met Megan and Jake, or their amazing engagement session, check that out here! Megan and Jakes wedding weekend was kicked off with a 5 1/2 hour car drive for me, my second shooter Brielle, and Trinity from Hoffland Films. It was a long haul, but after you read this blog and see these photos, you will see how WORTH it it was!! They decided to hire Trinity and I as the Emerald Collective. Their film is below and it is so stunning, you’ve got to check it out! We drove up the day before to attend the rehearsal (which I like to do if I’m 100% unfamiliar with a venue), have some dinner, and go to sleep early!

We woke up nice and early and headed back to Thumper Pond Resort, which is where Megan and her ladies were starting to get ready! There was an amazing breakfast spread, and lots of laughter and smiles. We all ate breakfast before starting on preparations. Megan had so many fun details for her wedding! Her jewelry was stunning, and she had not one, but 2 pairs of shoes! The second, for the reception, were a pair of bedazzled converse sporting their wedding date and her soon-to-be last name!

It was so helpful that Megan and Jake were getting ready in the same general location. They each had separate rooms at the resort, which made the back and forth of the morning so much easier! If guys are getting ready at a separate location, we can’t always get photos due to timeline restrictions. I’m so happy we were able to document these sweet moments of Jake helping his son get ready for the day.

Megan and her ladies were ready shortly following. We got some cute photos of all their dresses lined up, as well as the girls in their matching robes! Then it was time for Megan to get into her gorgeous dress. Her A&Be dress was modern and elegant, it was the perfect fit for this amazing day.

Jake and Megan decided to do a first look. It was a perfect idea, as we were able to finish almost all the photos before the ceremony. Their first look was sweet and emotional. Jake was at a loss for words at how beautiful Megan looked!

We then did some photos of the full bridal party, as well as some family photos. These pine trees provided the perfect cover from the bright sun, and made the photos look so beautiful! After finishing up with this fun crew, we headed back to town to get the couple married!

The couple got married at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Perham, MN. The cathedral was stunning, and somehow matched Megan’s color scheme for the day. The ceremony was traditional, but was so personal and funny. After vow and rings, the couple kissed and was officially married!

We headed back to the resort where cocktail hour had begun. Because the couple had chosen to do a first look, they were able to enjoy the majority of their cocktail hour! The venue space was amazing, featuring incredible floral centerpieces, a custom hexagon photo booth, and a charcuterie board as big as my office overflowing with some delicious snacks! Our jaws were on the floor!

There was a grand march, and then dinner began. The DJ had some fun games planned including trivia, and a really fun kissing game for when glasses were clinked. He would call on one couple from the crowd, and play music, then Megan and Jake would have to reciprocate whatever kiss they did. The couple went all out for this, copying everything down to the initial reaction, which made the game so much fun! This included dips, dancing, and Megan’s dad even did the splits before getting a kiss from her mom!

Speeches were given by the best man and maid of honor. They were humorous, emotional, and the maid of honor speech even included a fashion show displaying some of the key points in Megan and her sister’s life together.

We pulled the couple for an amazing golden hour on the golf course. It was so nice to give them some time together amidst the fun and laughter of their reception. These are some of my favorite photos of the day.

The couple had their first dance after that, and danced with each of their parents. After that it was time to party, and we even stayed around to dance and celebrate!

Megan and Jake, I hope your day was the best day ever. It was amazing working with you both from start to finish! You two were clearly made for one another, and that is so evident to me and everyone around you. I hope your first couple weeks of marriage have been a dream! Here’s to many years, congrats again you two and thank you for choosing to work with me!
